Welcoming our new interns: Silvia and Elisa join the Children and War Foundation
CAW welcome our new interns Elisa and Silvia.
This year, the Children and War Foundation is excited to welcome Silvia and Elisa as new interns! Both completing their Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Social and Cultural Psychology, they will contribute to CAW's work supporting children affected by war and displacement through research, communication, and international collaboration.
Silvia has extensive experience in humanitarian work, post-conflict contexts, and research on gender, migration, and peacebuilding. She has collaborated with international organisations on human rights and justice initiatives and brings a strong focus on integrating feminist and cultural perspectives into her work.
Elisa focuses mainly on trauma-informed psychosocial interventions for social change and migrant wellbeing. Her research explores how displacement and community reconstruction shape mental health and resilience among young people, and she is passionate about advancing social justice through evidence-based and community-centred approaches.
During their internship, they will take part in reviewing the updated Teaching Recovery Techniques manual and support the roll-out of TRT trainings. They will also be involved in key meetings and projects being developed in these upcoming months, and help organise exciting international events, including the Nordic MHPSS Conference that will take place in Oslo in June 2026!
“This work strongly resonates with the realities of my own country, where many communities face the consequences of conflict and displacement,” Silvia explains. “Through my [...] experience, I’ve witnessed how trauma can shape lives, but also how community strength and appropriate psychosocial support can transform them. Joining Children and War feels like a powerful way to bring together my learning, experience, and commitment to healing and human dignity.”
“Being involved in the work of Children and War”, adds Elisa, “is an inspiring opportunity to see how trauma-informed theory can be consciously applied to make a real difference in the lives of communities who are enduring hardship. I feel really grateful to be part of a team working to empower children and restore their agency and hope.”
The Children and War Foundation is thrilled to have them join the team and looks forward to their contributions in the months ahead!
