New study concludes that group based interventions are helpful for traumatized children

A systematic high quality study that is just being published has reviewed the effectiveness of group-based interventions. In total, 42 studies with a total of nearly 6000 children were included. The study found that such interventions, especially those based on cognitive behavioural therapy were helpful to reduce trauma symptoms and depression, compared to no treatment. The Teaching Recovery techniques (TRT) was one of the interventions that were found to be effective, also when delivered by non-professionals in complex emergencies and resource-scarce settings. The study was done by Rebecca S Davis and colleagues.
