Information regarding the response to the earthquake in Turkey and Syria

The devastating earthquake on February 6th severely impacts the mental health and wellbeing of children in Turkey, Syria and neighbouring countries.  A number of partners are engaged in relief efforts. Children and War Foundation has been co-operating with partners in the affected countries for many years and will continue to offer our support. Teaching Recovery Techniques (TRT) has previously been used to support children following earthquakes, also in Turkey, and is a valuable resource also this time.

In addition, many other resources are available. MHPSS.net has compiled an overview of resources which may be found here.

Parents and caregiver play a particularly important role protecting and supporting children during and after disasters. In response to the earthquake, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime has set up a dedicated page on caregiver resources on their DLSSB/PTRS prevention website here.
