TRT training in South Korea after ferry accident

5 July, 2014

Children and War Foundation conducted a training in the TRT manual in South Korea to train group leaders in relation to the tragic ferry accident that occurred on April 16, 2014. On June 27-29 Atle Dyregrov and Stephen Regel from the Children and War Foundation trained mental health professionals in South Korea in the use of the Teaching Recovery Techniques manual. By using this manual, many adolescents can be reached through groups. During the days of training, participants were trained in techniques that can bring down posttraumatic reactions in affected groups. In various parts of the world, this manual has shown good results in terms of lowering the level of psychological distress, particularly posttraumatic distress after disasters. The training was conducted with financial support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
