Our resources and measures are being prepared for use in Japan for the first time.
Professionals have used the widely used screening tool to measure children at risk for post traumatic stress symptoms, CRIES, after the recent Japanese earthquake and tsunami. This is the first CRIES pilot with children in Japan.
The Foundation has also been in touch with clinical psychologists in Japan who are now translating Teaching Recovery Techniques manual (TRT) and workbook. The manual aims to reduce traumatic reactions and has been developed to reach large numbers of children in a short space of time.
A group of Japanese child psychiatrists will receive a training in how to use the TRT manual in June. Unni Heltne will conduct the response training, which is funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
