The Board of Directors has decided to support Leila Gupta and Eugenie Mukanoheli’s forthcoming travel to Haiti, where they plan to train personnel in the use of our manual.
The manual allows large groups of children to be helped, and has previously been used in earthquakes in Greece, Turkey, Iran and China.
“With money granted us from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs we can support their travel”, Atle Dyregrov says. The foundation received one million Norwegian kroner to train local group leaders around the world, including training a group of core trainers, who can assist in conducting trainings in other parts of the world when the need arises.
Leila Gupta is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and has previously been based in Port Au-Prince, where she lived in 2006-07. She will bring a colleague from Rwanda, Eugenie Mukanoheli, who has vast experience in trauma work. She has started translating the manual into French.
They are both trained in the disaster manual, of which Gupta was a contributing author.
