The Finnish Medical Society Duodecim has recommended the Children’s Impact of Event Scale (CRIES), as one of the society’s main screening instruments on Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) treatments.

The scientific society, whose 19,000 members make up almost 90 per cent of the Finnish doctors and medical students, published recommendations for the treatment of PTSD and psychological trauma related disorders in September. The Foundation’s CRIES-instrument, which is a brief child-friendly measure designed to screen children at risk for PTSD, was recommended by a group of experts to be used as one of the main screening instruments.

The society publishes evidence-based recommendations for treatments for physicians, health care professionals and patients. It publishes the most important scientific medical journal in Finnish, and also evaluates the medical education.
