New member of the advisory group

The Foundation is delighted to announce that Ed Cairns, Professor of Psychology at the University of Ulster, Coleraine, has accepted an invitation to become a member of the Foundation’s advisory group.
The advisory group was established in June 2007 and consists of clinical, training and research experts. They have been chosen for their previous contribution to the development of procedures that can help traumatised children or because of their extensive training experience within the field of children involved in war or disaster.
Ed Cairns has been with the University of Ulster in Coleraine since 1972. Most of the time he has been spent studying the psychological aspects of political violence in relation to the conflict in Northern Ireland. During this time he has also been a visiting scholar at the Universities of Florida, Cape Town, Melbourne and Massachusetts. He is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society, a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, and Past President of the Division of Peace Psychology (Division 48) of the American Psychological Association. He has published extensively, his last book being: “Children and Political Violence” (Blackwell, 1996).
